Purpose/Concept
The design concept for the collection of three posters was crafted to capture the unique spirit of Kino, a conceptual authentic cinema that showcases a diverse range of non-mainstream films. Kino is not your typical movie theater—it exclusively screens vintage films, short films, student productions, and independent works made for academic purposes. The selection includes experimental pieces, forgotten classics, and artistic films that embody a different era of cinema.
The design needed to reflect this distinctive atmosphere, creating an authentic and original visual identity. I chose a classic black-and-white color scheme, complemented by vibrant orange to add a dynamic, modern touch. The posters feature intriguing film stills and cutouts, carefully selected to enhance the vintage aesthetic. Each image was edited with a black-and-white film effect, emphasizing the nostalgic feel of the old movies Kino celebrates, while maintaining a fresh and eye-catching design that aligns with the theater’s alternative programming.
